This student had been receiving a combination of herbal medicine and acupuncture for chronic stomach pain. After starting treatment, they gradually improved, and for the last 20 days, the pain had subsided, so we were in the stabilization phase to maintain their good condition.
However, as a first-grader, they had rushed their meal because of a busy lunch schedule, which caused their stomach to act up. The pain became unbearable, leading to their visit. They had to go to an academy afterwards and were short on time, so it was a very urgent situation.
Since time was tight, I quickly worked to relax their body on the treatment bed and gave them some digestive medication. After letting them rest for a moment, I finished with acupressure patches. I put some extra medicine in their bag just in case they felt pain again at the academy. They were at the clinic for less than 10 minutes, and thankfully, they left with a smile alongside their mother.
Seeing them silently enduring the pain with tears streaming down their face was heartbreaking. I can only imagine how worried their mother must have felt. I am so glad they recovered quickly.
In this student's case, since their symptoms had improved, I thought we could conclude the treatment after a period of good maintenance. This maintenance phase is truly important. A stage is needed where the improved state becomes stabilized; if left unattended and the pain returns, it will take much more time and effort to restore their condition and digestive function.
