If symptoms persist,
the condition deepens

Hello. I am Ji-yeon Hong, Director of Yon Oriental Medicine Clinic.

A patient I saw a few months ago recently returned for a visit. At the time, they were suffering from hand pain and had been receiving physical therapy despite being told there were no specific issues after examinations at an orthopedic clinic; they came to see me because their symptoms were persistent.

By the time they came to me, it had been over four months since their initial symptoms began.

Diagnosis

Detecting hidden inflammation through textbook diagnosis

However, to my eyes, it clearly appeared to be a case of inflammation. The area was swollen, warm, slightly red, and painful—displaying all four classic signs of inflammation: 'Rubor (redness), Tumor (swelling), Calor (heat), and Dolor (pain).'

As I treated the patient, I told them, "Although your orthopedic examination showed no abnormalities, from my perspective, there are clear signs of inflammation. While inflammation can be improved with herbal medicine and acupuncture, considering your underlying conditions and current medications, you should undergo further specialized testing to get more accurate data."

They didn't come back for a long time, but then returned for a different issue. I asked how their hand was doing. They replied, "You told me back then that it looked like inflammation. I went to a major hospital for advanced testing, and it turned out there was indeed inflammation. It was truly amazing."

It’s not amazing at all. ^^ I am simply performing a thorough diagnosis just as I learned in the textbooks.
