Today, I would like to post about the Gongjindan I prepared myself. With upcoming holiday festivities and recent prescription requests, I have personally crafted these in the clinic with the utmost care.

I am here to share the story of how we meticulously select and prepare each herb for Yon Clinic’s Gongjindan.

What is "The Emperor's Tonic," Gongjindan?

Gongjindan is a prescription recorded in the "Seui-deukhyobang" (Effective Prescriptions of Generations of Physicians), authored by Wei Yilin of the Yuan Dynasty in China. It was primarily used by the Chinese imperial family and is a prestigious medicine so effective that it is known as "The Emperor's Tonic."

It is also a representative prescription for liver deficiency in the "Heoro" (Deficiency Fatigue) chapter of the Dongui Bogam. It records, "By strengthening the primordial Qi and achieving the harmony of water ascending and fire descending, the five internal organs will naturally be at peace and all illnesses will be prevented; treat this with Gongjindan."

Because it can replenish even innate weaknesses, it is known as "The King's Tonic." It is widely prescribed for those suffering from excessive stress where water-fire balance is disrupted, menopause symptoms caused by liver deficiency, or difficulty recovering from hangovers.

By refining herbs into ultra-fine powders
and passing them through sieves repeatedly,
we maximize both texture and medicinal efficacy.

Each Gongjindan pill at Yon Clinic weighs 5g, with a standard dosage of 100mg of musk per pill.

1. Accurate Measurement & Hand Shaping

After kneading the powder with wildflower honey for a long time, we precisely weigh each pill to 5g and hand-shape them to be perfect for consumption.

2. Gold Foil Coating for Efficacy

To preserve the scent of the musk and assist in stabilizing the mind, we apply pure gold foil, then seal each pill perfectly in a container.
